Step 1 — Choose the right platform
For most Indian businesses, Shopify and WooCommerce are the two strongest options. Shopify is hosted and quick to launch with low maintenance. WooCommerce (on WordPress) is more flexible and avoids monthly platform fees, but needs hosting and upkeep. Choose based on your catalogue size, budget and how much control you want.
Step 2 — Payments, GST and shipping
Connect an Indian payment gateway such as Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree so customers can pay by UPI, cards and net banking. Set up GST correctly on your products, and publish clear shipping, delivery-time and return policies — trust is what turns browsers into buyers.
Step 3 — Launch and get your first sales
A great store with no traffic makes no sales. Start with local SEO (Google Business Profile, location pages), then add Google Shopping and Meta ads targeted at people who actually buy what you sell. Track everything so you can double down on what works.
